Following an energy assessment by Spark Building Energy Solutions (Spark), the 70-year-old building’s HVAC and lighting systems were renovated. Located in a Detroit suburb, Suburban Shared Center (SSC) is a fully furnished office and warehouse complex. SSC is a structure that was built in the 1950s. The building’s owner made the decision to install new, improved energy-efficient systems in 2014.
The SSC building’s owner decided it was time to replace the outdated HVAC and lighting systems with more energy-efficient models since the building had been there for more than 60 years. To find possible energy-saving areas in the facility, Spark conducted a thorough energy assessment at SSC. Spark completed the building’s lighting and HVAC upgrades after the audit was finished. Spark helped SSC obtain DTE rebates and an energy loan from the Michigan Saves Program so that the upgrades could be completed. Mike, the owner of the SSC building, stated, “Spark Building Energy Solutions has done an excellent job; they have demonstrated a great deal of professionalism and responsibility throughout the process.” Additionally, he says that the tenants are thrilled with the improvements, particularly the lighting. The energy bill was lowered by more than 40% following the improvements.
The building used approximately 27, 544 kWh of electricity for 12 month period. Replacing the existing T12 lights with more efficient LED or T8 fluorescent lighting will result in power consumption of 11, 535 kWh. The net electrical power savings will be around 16, 009 kWh which works out to be 58.12%.
In the US State of Michigan, Redford Township is a charter township located in Wayne County. Redford is a Detroit inner-ring suburb that shares a western border with Detroit. As part of its internal programming, the Charter Township of Redford aims to improve energy efficiency, modernize infrastructure, and lessen its environmental effects.
Five buildings in the Redford township—Redford Township Hall, Redford Township Police Station, Redford Community/Senior Center, Leo Snage Public Service Building, and South Fire Station—have undergone energy audits by Spark Building Energy Solutions as part of the initiative. Following the audit, the township received an audit report that included suggested changes and the energy savings that would result from putting the suggestions into practice. A total of 93,00 sq.ft has been analyzed throughout the five buildings.Over time, the township will save a substantial amount of money and around 374,589 kWh of energy by implementing the suggested modifications.
Located in the center of Farmington, Michigan, Drake View LLC is a twostory office building. The building’s whole HVAC system is provided by eight roof-top units. They are all older than fifteen. The building has undergone a thorough energy assessment by Spark Building Energy Solutions. To achieve considerable energy savings, it was recommended that the property owners replace the outdated T12, T8, Inc., 250W HPS and MHT12, T8, Inc., 250W HPS, and MH-175-175 lighting systems with new LED lighting.
A technical energy analysis of the site has been conducted, along with potential energy-saving strategies. The owner received a comprehensive report outlining all possible energy and financial savings following the renovation.
